One of the critical issues in the research of my Alldredge-Aldridge family has been disentangling two early people who are often conflated: Nathan Alldredge (born about 1739), my ancestor, and another man, Nathaniel Aldridge (born 1730s), who originated around the same time in around the same place, the central piedmont of North Carolina. It is because of these similarities that people have tended to gloss over the differences, and connect both men to the same family if not conflate them as the same person.
On this wiki, I've written several articles attempting to clarify and separate these two men, arriving ultimately at the distinction of different Y-DNA lines. I hope these resources will be helpful to other researchers.
- Nathan Alldredge (born about 1739)
- William Alldredge, Nathan's father
- Nicholas Aldridge of Anne Arundel County, Maryland, Nathan's grandfather
- Nathaniel Aldridge Sr. (born 1730s)
- Nathaniel Aldridge Jr. (born 1760s), Nathaniel's son
